When to Dial 9-8-8:

  • Severe Distress: If you are experiencing overwhelming feelings of hopelessness, fear, or distress that you cannot manage on your own.
  • Immediate Danger: If you are in a situation that poses immediate risk to your safety or the safety of others.
  • Need for Immediate Mental Health Support: If you need support for a severe mental health or substance use crisis and are unsure where to turn.

What to Expect When You Call or Text 9-8-8:

  • When you reach out to 9-8-8, you will be connected to a trained crisis specialist who will listen to your concerns, provide emotional support, and help you develop a safety plan. If necessary, they can connect you to local crisis services and resources for further assistance.
